Small Business Program

The Economic Wellbeing Team’s Small Business Program at the IRC in Salt Lake City offers a variety of business counseling services to refugee, new American and other minority business owners including: one-on-one business counseling, workshops, market access opportunities that help you sell your products, loans up to $50,000, and help filing business taxes.

Small Business Start Up

Client entrepreneurs work with a Small Business Counselor to establish a business plan and explore the various aspects of starting a new business.

Our clients work with a Small Business Counselor to learn about selling opportunities. We connect our client businesses to different events & shows to sell their products. We also offer digital marketing services for those who want to digitize their business or do online sales.

Childcare Business Program

The Childcare Business Program allows refugees who have been in the United States less than 5 years to learn the skills and tools needed to start a home-based childcare business for free. This program provides the classes necessary for clients to start their own businesses. Eligible clients will receive a start-up grant to support the creation of their business.

Business Loans

We offer a few different opportunities for loans and grants:

  • Business Loans offering small-dollar loans to refugees, new Americans and other credit-thin individuals in order to promote upward economic mobility.

  • Individual Development Accounts which are one-to-one (1:1) Matched Savings to help pay for small business costs.
